From the Some Candy Talking EP by The Jesus and Mary Chain
This song was banned from the BBC because people thought it was about heroin. The band insisted otherwise, but those poppy flowers in the cover art didn’t help their argument. Also not helping: The lyrics. He’s talking about a girl, but, well…
I’m going down to the place tonight
To see if I can get a taste tonight
A taste of something warm and sweet
That shivers your bones and rises to your heatI know, I know, those lyrics could be about a lot of things, but The Jesus and Mary Chain’s best work (especially this song) sounds like daydreams in a narcotic haze.
